Hundreds turned out on Monday afternoon in Jerusalem for the funeral of 27 year old Yaakov Meir Chashin of Ramot who was remembered as an exceptional Yeshivah Student. One speaker at the levaya said that Chashin lived his life always looking ahead to the day of his death in order to make sure that he used every moment of his life to the fullest as reported by Yediot Acharonot.

“He was perfect in his learning, his yiras shomayim and his middos,” said Rabbi Asher Weiss in his eulogy. “In his death, there is a loss that cannot be recovered.”

The husband of 23 year old Chana Pesha Frankel told the Thousands who gathered at the Biala-Ostrova Beis Medrash about the devotion that his expectant wife lavished upon him and praised her for her stellar middos. Frankel said that his wife would frequently remind him that perfection was unattainable because that quest is the very reason for our existence, but that she herself had actually achieved perfection. Mrs. Frankel was laid to rest on Har Hazeisim, next to her mother, who died approximately three years ago.

“You worried endlessly about all of my needs,” said a tearful Mordechai Frankel. “you were my rebbe. You gave me advice that no one else could have offered. There was no end to your wisdom.”

18 year old Jerusalem resident Mordechai Cohen has been a student at the Bobover yeshiva in Bnei Brak and his levaya began at the yeshiva before proceeding to the Rachimstrivska Beis Medrash in Jerusalem. One of the maspidim lamented that the 18 year old was being wrapped in burial shrouds instead of being dressed in a kittel for his own wedding. Cohen was buried in Givat Shaul.

17 year old Levi Yitzchak Amdadi, son of a well known and highly respected rov in the Breslover community of Yavniel, appeared to be destined for greatness according to Kikar HaShabat. Rabbi Hillel Kalman Amdadi said that his son, who had spent Shabbos in Jerusalem, was excited to begin learning with a new chavrusa.

“Hakadosh Baruch Hu wanted him to attend the yeshiva shel maala,” said Rabbi Amdadi.

Levi Yitzchak Amdadi had gone to the Kosel just hours before his death.

“He davened that he would have success in yeshiva,” said Rabbi Amdadi. “Levi Yitzchak, please do all that you can in the yeshiva shel maala for the Jewish people.”

Jerusalem resident Yisroel Weinberg, a descendant of the Slonimer Rebbe, Rav Elimelech of Lizensk and the Apter Rebbe, was also buried today. A sefer Torah is being written in memory of the 26 year old who was remembered by his friends for his warm personality and his seemingly inexhaustible simchas hachaim.

“Everyone will remember how he always had a good word to say and a spark in his eye,” said one heartbroken friend. “He had a dear and pure soul that ended its mission in our world in a split second.”

The sixth fatality was 61 year old Leah Malmud. Arutz Sheva reported that Mrs. Malmud was mother of seven who taught at a Jerusalem seminary.

Among those who eulogized the teen were Rabbi Yitzchak Erlanger, with one speaker lamenting that the 18 year old was being wrapped in burial shrouds instead of being dressed in a kittel for his own wedding. An emotional kaddish was said by the Rachamstrivska Rebbe before Cohen was taken to Givat Shaul for burial.
