New York, NY – The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America (OU), praised president Bush for the "Pell Grants for Kids" proposal that would be unveiled in President Bush's State of the Union address.
The proposal would provide federal grants to children in persistently failing public schools to attend a private school, whether secular or parochial, of their choice.
Nathan J. Diament, Director of Public Policy stated:
"This is a landmark proposal from a president who has always put education and faith as two pillars of his agenda. Helping poor children to receive a first rate education from the best and most appropriate school is a fitting legacy for the education president."
