Woodbury, NY – Northbound Thruway Shut Down Due to MVA

Woodbury, NY – A motor vehicle accident on the northbound lanes of the New York State Thruway (I-87) Exit 16 at MM 45.0, involving a motorcycle with the operater of the motorcycle on the ground at this time with serious head injuries.

New York State Police are on the scene closing down all northbound lanes, Fire Department and EMS are responding to the scene. Medivac on standby.

EMS on the scene requesting Medivac to fly, landing zone for Stat Flight Air-2 to be on the northbound lanes of the highway. Southbound lanes of the NYS Thruway are also subject to be closed once the chopper is on the ground.

Chopper has lifted off, all lanes are now open for traffic! But traffic is heavy for eight miles.
