Dixon’s resignation will become official Feb. 4, when she is sentenced. Dixon, a Democrat, was convicted in December on one count of embezzlement stemming from her use of gift cards given to the city by Patrick Turner, a developer. Turner claimed the gift cards were intended for the needy.

The trial offered a window into what critics have long derided as a pay-to-play mentality at City Hall that tarnished Baltimore’s reputation.

Dixon will receive four years probation as part of her plea. The mayor will hold a press conference is at 5 p.m. at City Hall.

Dixon was the former president of the Baltimore City Council who became mayor in January 2007. She ascended to the top job after then Mayor Martin O’Malley became governor, defeating Republican Robert Ehrlich.

Baltimore City Council President Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will ascend to the top job after Dixon’s resignation.

Turner should have handed her an envelope of cash rather than gift cards. Now that Dwek has moved in, he’ll teach the politicians a thing or two about bribery and corruption.

to number 9 the Tora has a problem with Dwek so im assuming if you dont then your probally not even a Jew. The guy is a Moser, if you dont know what that is then call Chabad and ask for a local orthodox Rabbi. then maybe you will understand and maybe even delete your post

The Mayor was responsive to the needs of the Jewish community and we owe her a debt of gratitude, but now it is time to move on. There are many within the the Jewish community that have a very close relationship City Council President Rawlings-Blake and we are excited to start working with her and her new administration once put in place. While Baltimore has many challenges, it is generally a great place to raise an Orthodox Jewish family. It is easy to be critical, step up, get involved and you will see each one of us can make a difference.

Why do we need to wait until she is sentenced before she resigns. She’s already pled guilty. Isn’t that enough for her to leave NOW?

    don’t worry baltimore…
dwek will not last long in your city…it’s only a matter of time that he will remain welcome.
I just feel so bad for the children it’s not fair that the chidren should be victims of his bad choices. the punishment for a moser is excomunication
. his wife will wake up and help her children by publicly leaving him. If the moser loves his children he would agree life with him is going to be a life of shame. he should leave his wife and children to live the good life that they deserve. he should just go away he is not wanted in any jewish community.
he can stay with his new fbi friends. let’s see how long they will remain his friends. it’s a matter of time until they also will be done with the moser’s services .then off to jail he will go.

    1. Dina d’malchusa dina?!
In your application, a yid is doing an aveira when the parking meter expires!
You should go learn what halacha has to say about dina d’malchusa dina, and how it’s applied.

    2. Chillul Hashem?!
In your application, a yid is doing an aveira by eating fleish during the week, thereby unnecessarily supporting the shchita industry!
You should go learn what halacha has to say about Chillul Hashem, and how it’s applied.

    3. Geneiva?!
In your application it’s the IRS that’s stealing income taxes from americans, as whether enforced or not, it is ILLEGAL to tax income! (Apply this to dina d’malchusa as well)

FACT: It’s a mitzvah not to pay income taxes if you can avoid jail, so yiddishe gelt doesn’t get ILLEGALLY STOLEN by the IRS, when it can better go to support yiddin and their communities.

FACT: It’s a mitzvah to get kidneys illegally if it saves/prolongs a yiddishe life, that would otherwise not get one.

FACT: If you knew what many goyim do with government assitance, you wouldn’t ever say a word regarding kollelite. There is no better use of government assistance!
