The president of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), Ingrid Newkirk, said her organization wouldn’t have sought Mrs. Obama’s consent for the anti-fur ad because it knows that she can’t make such an endorsement.

Mrs. Obama appears in the ad with celebrities Oprah Winfrey, Carrie Underwood and Tyra Banks – three others who have shunned fur. The ads are appearing in Washington’s Metro stations, magazines and PETA’s Web site.

PETA included the first lady in its Washington ad campaign based on White House confirmation that she does not wear fur.

That’s like my 7 year old when asked why she didn’t get permission to take a cookie. “I was afraid u would say no and I was hungry”

i never understood these people. what’s the difference if the skin you are wearing is fluffy or soft? why can you slaughter an animal for its leather but not for its fur? is it more inhumane or is a mink just cuter than a cow? i know michelle wears leather and i bet she loves fillet mignon too!

Does anyone know that PETA kills more animals than any slaughterhouse in the world? They do it because they say those animals are suffering. Google it, shocking hypocrites!

Are a bunch of low lives. If they had their way all ice cream would be made from human milk. And I am guessing all humans would live in cages. These people give no regard to religion at all.

In addition, it sounds like there is a lot of cruelty in the way that animals killed for their fur are raised or trapped and killed. There also is a lot of cruelty in factory farming, but the fur industry is particularly bad. Now that we have other ways to keep warm, there is no justification for using fur other than sheer vanity.
