Rabbi Balkany is a good man. He has a girls school and does not kick out students like all the other mosdos do for poor families. Also his school is not a stuck up type like so many highly materialistic ones out there in the girls divisions.
When Balkany was interviewed on the Zev Brenner show tonight he sounded like a lying politician. He didn’t let Zev get a word in edgewise. Balkany just kept talking over him when Zev tried interrupting Balkany’s self-promoting tirades to try to ask a pertinent question. Balkany kept talking about all the wonderful community service he did and does. We could do without Balkany’s “services” thank you very much.
Balkany – do Jews the world over a big service and disappear. Go hide under a rock, stay away from our communities and stop calling yourself a Rabbi. Those would be the best services Balkany could do for our community!!
The Rabonim should set up a website called ChillulHashem.com when someone progresses in the Chillul Hashem arena for to long they should be listed there until they do Teshuva
I do not know the man, only the methods used by Federal investigators. Before they make a move they have ample evidence, plnty of document trails, many credible witnesses, etc. Get real people- his smart lawyers will work out a plea deal to avoid jail time and that will be that. The Feds do not like putting 74 year old men in jail and most Jews want to avoid jail time. So that becomes the beginning of the plea deal discussions. Watch the plea deal talks!
I read the indictment. The Feds have tapes of him and direct quotes are written in the indictments. The Feds have vidoes os him accepting the money.
We know a family whose daughter was having an absolutely horrendous time in her former girl’s school — she was not doing well academically and even worse, was the butt of cruel jokes and teasing by the “mean girls” who were the student leaders (including the grand daughter of a prominent rabbi, who acted like her yichus gave her the right to be a snob and a bully) and even her teacher who should have known better went along with this and picked on her. Her parents pulled her out of that school, and put her in Rabbi Balkany’s school — and that was the end of her problem. She was treated nicely there, her grades improved, she successfully graduated and B’H, married and now has a nice family. I had occasion to speak to R’ Balkany from time to time. A very nice man. I hope he will be able to prove his innocence and be vindicated.
I too have a daughter who went and graduated from Rabbi Balkanys school and I can tell you it is a wonderful school. My daughter is married to a kollel guy and has 2 babies already. I know other girls who were her classmates who nebech came from orphaned or divorced backgrounds and they turned out yiddish mammas. I know all you cynics will condemn him for taking money. His school deserves the money because many parents could not afford tution. Other schools take tution plus government aid. One thing about Rabbi Balkany is he always greets everyone with a smile and has a houseful of shabbos guest,many who are broken souls. How dare anyone condemn this good man. If the federal government went after anyone they will find reason to arrest him. Lets all pray for him and give him courage and may he come out victorious one more time.
I heard the radio show. I heard what he said about the 2003 incident. Then I read the agreement that he signed with the Feds.
The Rabbi lied. Plain and simple. He lied. The proof is widely available for all to see for themselves. Why should we believe him anymore?
In a deal with prosecutors in 2004 pertaining to the misappropriation case, Balkany agreed to:
1) restrictions on his movement,
2) six months probation,
3) full restitution of the monies, and
4) admitted that he was wrong in not complying with specific terms of the grant’s use.
In return the State Prosecutor’s Office promised not to pursue the case any further. According to a statement to the rabbi from the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York, David N. Kelley, and two of his assistants, ”no further prosecution will be instituted in this district for the above offense unless you violate one of the special conditions.”

Rabbi Balkany is a tzaddik. My wife went to his BY school and knows first hand of his chessed. Let us look only at the good in each other and hopefully we will be judged well too.
Rubashkin is Balkany’s brother in law. It is a set up by the federal govt. The democrats want to take down this entire family.
Balkany is not guilty of extortion. Extortion must be proactive..ex. “I will disclose your insider trading if you don’t XYZ”
What Balkany allegedly did was “If you do XYZ, I can try to intervene on your behalf so that your insider trading doesnt otherwise get disclosed”
Balkany was under no obligation to otherwise intervene, and there is no evidence that Balkany would have disclosed the insider trading had he not received the donation.
The only criminal act here is STEVEN A COHEN of SAC CAPITAL being a MOYSIR. A beis din should be convened to put this “jew” in cheirim.

just finished reading the US Attorney Office complaint against Balkany. It idnetifies Bais Yaakov and “another school” that would have benefited from this scheme.
The complaint does not identify the another school. Which school is it?
I generally am a cynical person and believe 90% of the those who run the mosdos are nothing but money hungry elitists. That said, Rabbi Balkany is a true tzaddik. Everything he does, he does for Klal Yisroel. He is such a breath of fresh air. Unlike the other mosdos leaders, Rabbi Balkany accepts kids even if they have issues and even if they are poor. The feds set him up because they don’t like Rubashkin or him but it is a weak case and Brafman will undoubtedly get him off. The only thing Rabbi Balkany is guilty of is when the previous charges disapeared, he should have kept quiet because the feds don’t like it when you rub it in. Hopefully Rabbi Balkany will keep quiet when his case is dismissed this time so the feds will find somebody else to pick on and Rabbi Balkany can go back to being a beacon of light and a true ezer to klal yisroel as he has been all these years.
If the following is true (and not an exaggeration), would Rabbi Balkany be considered both a Moysir and a gonif?

It will be interesting what the video and audio tapes show. I think this is sad and (if true) a Chilul Hashem. I have friends that have attended his school. We will see how things play out.
Steve Cohen of SAC Capital is worth 14 billion dollars. His ex-wife was the first to accuse him of insider trading. If this inmate corroborates this, Cohen may be looking at jail time which he should hopefully get if it is true that he implicated Rabbi Balkany. Even if it is true that Rabbi Balkany asked (not extorted or blackmailed) for 4 million dollars for two yeshivas including Torah V’Daas which he has no vested in, in exchange for asking the inmate if he reconsider testifying, we should keep in mind that asking for 4 million dollars from somebody who has 14 billion dollars is like asking for $ 28.57 from somebody who has $ 100,000.00.
