New York – If elected governor, WNY’s Carl Paladino vows in a new radio ad that he’d use the eminent domain laws to stop the construction of a controversial Islamic center/mosque near Ground Zero.

Paladino says sure he can, and instead of a mosque, the site should be a war memorial.

“I’ve been driving land-use issues for 40 years, and I understand the full powers of the governor. If the ACLU or anyone else wants to challenge me in court, I’m ready for the fight,” he said in a campaign statement.

“Andrew Cuomo supports the mosque. He says it is about religious freedom and he says the mosque construction should proceed. I say it is disrespectful to the thousands who died on 9-11 and their families, insulting to the thousands of troops who’ve been killed or injured in the ensuing wars and an affront to American people. And it must be stopped.”

Nobody thinks that the idea is tasteful, but that statement by the candidate is unconstitutional and may be unlawful.

Just tell the Muslims that they can have their mosque at Ground Zero when we can have a shul in Saudi Arabia. They want us to be tolerant? Let’s see them show some. (And we know they can’t.)

The fact that the Republican party is lining up against the First Ammendment should be of concern to anyone in this country who is not Christian.

Before these right right wing and tea party “patriots” and the 9/11 familes are done, all of lower Manhattan will be one big “memorial”. When do we stop pandering to hese misfits and let the market and land use laws decide what gets built.

Jews today, and unfortunately many religious ones, are so overly concerned about their first amendment religious rights that they are willing to side with fanatical Muslims on some issues, and transgender / homo groups on other issues – rather than side with the fundamentalist Christian groups whose values are much more closely aligned with Torah values. Very unfortunate and misguided.

It can be used to keep a nonprofit out of prime Manhattan real estate.

Whoever was a victim or lost someone on 9/11 should vote and decide if this disgusting mosque is gonna be built.
The sheer chutzpah and uncaring attitude of even requesting to build there shows no remorse of any kind, no compassion, no concern. Disgusting.
Who cares what kind of muslims did 9/11- fanatic, crazy, whatever. It was muslims and the rest of them should be ashamed, with their heads low. The fact that they are not shows a lot!

I’m very much against this mosque, and hope it will not be built. I also have no doubt that the use of eminent domain to stop it would be lawful, and that the courts would uphold it; but it doesn’t sit right with me. Eminent domain abuse is a major problem in the USA, and needs to be addressed. Using it because the government disapproves of the use to which the owner is putting the property, especially when that disapproval is explicitly based on the content of the users’ speech, is not in the spirit of the neutrality that is the spirit of the constitution. It’s not unconstitutional, but perhaps it should be.

PMO – if you would do some research you would understand this issue better. Muslim/Islam is not like “all other religions”. They seek to dominate and subordinate all… by whatever means possible. Whether it’s using the “liberal mindset” do advance their interests, or whatnot – they are forging ahead with their vision of “world dominance” – foremost by planting their roots firmly with mosques anywhere on or near sites of terrorist acts perpetrated BY THEM.

This is NO DIFFERENCT and fits in with their sneaky, slimy, EVIL agenda.

Anyone who wants to open their eyes – and do some solid research (try atlasshrugs.com and jihadwatch.org for starters) will very soon see things in a different, true and frankly SCARY light.

The “vast majority of Muslims” are themselves suppressed… should are not allowed to question the “koran” and it’s teachings… which IS “world dominance”.
