New York, NY – Dual Flush Toilets for All New City Buildings

    27

New York, NY – All new city buildings, from Flushing to Bath Beach, will have to install dual-flush toilets that have separate buttons for solids and liquids, as well as other water-saving plumbing fixtures under legislation the City Council plans to pass today.

The legislation, which applies to commercial and residential structures alike, also would require any replacement toilets purchased for existing buildings be dual flush.

The bill also mandates showerheads, urinals and sink faucets meet federal standards for performance and water efficiency.

I saw these toilets in Eretz Yisroel when I was there in August. They are weird looking but they do make a lot of sense. If you just throw a tissue in the toilet, why do you need 7 gallons or so to get rid of it when just one gallon will do?

When I visited Neve Hadassah in EY in 1965, I saw a flush toilet that I’ve never seen anywhere in the world. One could actually increase the force of the flush, by turning a control, thus adding more water pressure, to the flush. Someone in our group stated that “these toilets have a lot of horse power”.

This is just another small step to the bigger challenge of tikun olam. The mayor and council are finally addressing the really important issues of our generation and not wasting time and money trying to legislate morality or find some new subsidy for special interest groups.

    #12 ,

No, it is a way to reduce the operating costs of sewage treatment plants and avoid a tax increase.

You want Efficiency? You need to use the OUTHOUSE, or the Chamber pot commode of old. Also you can just find a tree, I left NYC many years ago, someone tell me if there are still trees left in the urban jungle ? (If NOT): use a fire hydrant like man’s best friend does all day long, and no H2O wasted.

Liberals be very careful about what you wish for…the government will also watch how and when you are using these buttons! For those of you who use trees, hydrants and other various public locations….the authorities already have your pictures from all the cameras posted above you and you will be getting your ticket in the mail shortly!

If there is any place where liberal government actually belongs, it’s in the toilet. Remember in November!
