Jerusalem – A close associate of Israel’s comatose former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon says the leader would not have chosen to remain on life support.

Sharon, 84, led the government from 2001 until a stroke left him incapacitated in 2006. He still lies in a coma, connected to a respirator at a hospital in central Israel.
Raanan Gissin, Sharon’s longtime spokesman and confidante, said Wednesday that he believes Sharon “would have asked to terminate.” He says “knowing the man, he would not want to live this way.”
Sharon was a storied military officer who fought in three wars before entering politics. A longtime hard-liner, Sharon shocked Israelis in 2005 when he unilaterally withdrew Israeli troops and settlers from the Gaza Strip after a 38-year military occupation.
Did Sharon have a living will? If not, it is up to the immediate family to decide this matter, after consulting with Rabbonim.
After Sharon’s funeral they will “idolize” Sharon, to commemorate his sellout of the Israel to the Arabs.
The longer his funeral can be delayed, the safer Israel will be, since Sharons ideology will not be idolized.
Hashem could not have made a more perfect “setup” where now, he is neither alive (can’t do any further damage to give away any more land to the Arabs) nor is he fully dead yet either (so that his ideology can’t be idolized either).
Let’s all wish him very “long life” (i.e. his life support should NOT be removed) – Yitamu Chatoim Veloy Chotim.
The holy Israel ground does not want to accept a body that has taken the jewish land away from wonderful jewish families and gave it to the arabs…
How quickly Yidden turn on each other. If it wasn’t Sharon, there is a high chance there would be no Israel today. General Sharon SAVED Israel during the Yom Kippur War.
Ending his life is nothing short of murder. Maybe this is his tikkun and if his life would be terminated before his natural death, who knows how much more his soul will suffer afterward.
Lets not kid ourselves he is no gibor.. He kicked out 10000 jewish people from their beautiful homes in their beautiful communities which they build with tears and blood.. And he put them in caravans.. And gave their homes to terrorists!!!!
#8 wow watch what u hope for others..#3 just stated his view..
Ouch! There are a lot of passionate feelings about Mr. Sharon! I can understand why, seeing as how that whole Gaza situation is still hard for some to deal with.
But I want to leave aside the “why” of why people are mad at him & mostly just ask whether or not it’s allowed to hate a fellow Jew THIS much?!
To completely ignore his entire prior career of marching in battles in Israel to SAVE the land, the Yom Kippur war, all of it (!) & instead, chose to only focus on the 1 aspect of his career that you found awful & focus on that ONE thing for the rest of your\his life?!
Perhaps his coma is his Tikkun for Gaza, just as poster #9 said! If so, why not just let HaShem deal w\him & all of us focus on the positive things he tried to do for his people?
NONE of us here in this forum have probably ever been a “hero” to our people before, or had so many scrutinizing every decision we’ve made for the past 20 yrs! He was responsible for millions! He wasn’t going to make every decision correctly.
So for those of you who are super angry at him, you need to think about the fact that your reaction to his coma is a test from HaShem. Are you passing that test? Wishing him ill or suffering??
