On the application, called Maran Shelita (Hebrew for the great rabbi, who should lives a good and long life), requests for blessings can be sent to Shas mentor Rabbi Ovadia Yosef.

The application also includes a speech by the rabbi, a video about his life, and a daily lesson in Jewish law.

Shas was careful not to condition the blessing on voting for Shas, because that would have been against the law.

  1. “Shas was careful not to condition the blessing on voting for Shas, because that would have been against the law”

So if was not against the election laws, conditioning a baracha from Yosef on voting for Shas would be OK? Does halacha and daas torah look favorably on rabbonim bartering their barachos? I would expect such a scam from some of the kabalah types like Pinto but not from a gadol such as Yosef.

  2. There is no question that those supporting a frum party and thus making Israel halachadig will earn a blessing from G-d. Let’s hope the Chareidim take over.

    • Sure….the chareidim take over and everyone sits in kollel and gets money from the government to “learn” while all the productive citizens move elsewhere. No army, no entrepreneurs, no farmers, no scientists or doctors, no nothing other than “learners”. Please keep your nareshkeit in Flatbush where they may appreciate such political ignorance.

  3. If this catches on you’ll see lots of rabbonim doing the same. Soon you’ll be able to follow your rebbe’s Twitter feed and ‘like’ him on Facebook.

    All l’shaim shomayim, of course.
