The Guardian (http://bit.ly/WYb3Zm) reports that while the video has drawn only ‘modest’ attention since its release last weekend, it is nevertheless a reminder of the increasing threat stemming from North Korea’s ballistic missile and nuclear weapons programs.
The video, which is set to a muzak version of Michael Jackson and USA for Africa’s 1985 hit “We Are the World,” begins innocently enough with the image of a young Korean boy sleeping. But within seconds the young boy’s journey places him aboard a space shuttle circumnavigating the earth, courtesy of a rocket similar to the one successfully tested by North Korea this past December.
After an apparent victory pass over a cheering North Korea, the focus then turns to an unidentified U.S. city draped in the Stars and Stripes. What follows is a scene eerily reminiscent of the 9/11 attacks, as rockets pelt the city, while buildings burn uncontrollably.
Accompanying the attack are Korean-language subtitles, which translated state, “Somewhere in the United States, black clouds of smoke are billowing. It seems that the nest wickedness is ablaze.”
