Cairo – Egypt’s vice president and pro-reform leader Mohamed ElBaradei has resigned to protest deadly police assaults against two sit-in protest camps by supporters of the ousted president.

ElBaradei submitted his resignation Wednesday in a letter to interim President Adly Mansour. A copy was emailed to The Associated Press.
He says he is not prepared to be held responsible for a “single drop of blood” and warns that violence will breed more violence and the country is more polarized than it was when he took office.
El-Baradei was named Mansour’s deputy for foreign relations last month.
How disappointing… First clashes and he goes. Does he think he deals with pacifists? No it’s “nazislamists”. It’s sad to use force but if it is a necessary pain for the good of his country, then what else can you choose? He choose to run away…

It’s tough having a conscience when the last four governments have been run by thugs. I wish Mr. ElBaradei well and hope his group will play a part in the reconstruction of Egypt’s political system
