Blackburnnews.com (http://bit.ly/1aUXDoi) reports that police chief Dennis Poole says the Chatham-Kent Police Department is not investigating the group, as they are not threatening the public safety of the city.

The Children’s Services of Chatham-Kent says they will not give any special treatment to the Jewish group.

Lev Tahor members have recently set up a community outside of Chatham after they fled Quebec last week during a children’s aid investigation. Police say an initial evaluation of the children’s well-being did not bring about any concerns.

Yes, they may not be concerned that they will commit crimes like stealing cars or murder but what about child abuse? Spousal abuse??

Can anyone tell me how they survive financially. It doesn’t seem like anyone works over there.

Why do we see women wearing burkkahs on the picture? Is that a mistaken picture?

thank G-d that they have left eretz Yisroel and do not influence other simple minded Yidden with their narishkeit. They feel good about themselves that they are frummer than all of us.
They totally miss what yiddishkeit is all about.

    as the saying goes:
    Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I have never hit a woman in my life, but there’s something about a burka that makes me want to beat these women.

It seems that most of the posts here are he-said, she-said. If there were any abusive behaviors by this or Any group, charges should be filed with the police. Canada is a modern country with decent anti child abuse laws. If like in BP no one has the courage or brains to stand up against abuses then we all suffer the consequences.

What are you waiting for…Jim Jones and his followers drinking Cynaide.?

The children look so sad. The stories I have heard coming from this cult are even sadder. Child protective services need to remove all children at once.

To all of you who claim the abuse is not true, I know firsthand that there is a lot of abuse going on. I have visited the place many times and have seen far too much. I am just curios, all of you defending the rebbe, his rabiste and everything are you by any chance the gaboim of the group??? If not how can you post with such confidence that there is no abuse going on there.

My friend was married off at 14 to a man twice her age. By the time we turned 18 she had 3 children. They are not allowed to eat anything because nothing is kosher. They only eat duck eggs and mostly a vegan diet. The children are malnourished. Girls over the age of three have to wear burkahs. This is normal???

I have a friend who lived there a couple of months and was quiet close to their leader. What told me that Lev Tahor’s leader is a coocoo, was when my friend told me that he once sat next to their leader and he just “bit” him out of no reason, yes he “bit” him! How strange is this?! That just tells you of the mental state of that person and to think that he’s a community leader is even more worrying. He told me many more stories, such as their Rabbi H. talking for hours without end and sometimes even the whole night, expecting adult men and children to stay awake and listen to him, especially Shabbos. That’s psychological abuse, especially on the children of this group.
I have no problem with their clothing, as there are gedolim that taught that women should wear such clothing (ie Ben Ish Chai), though only those that are married.
The children should be taken care of by social services and handed over to normal Jewish families. Also getting young girls and boys married off to one another, in today’s society (we aren’t in Tunisia, iraq, etc…) is also problem, especially that they won’t be mature enough nor the boy able to support the family. Balance is the key!!!
