The official, recounting a conversation between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the French president, said four hostages were killed and 15 freed in at the market near the Porte de Vincennes neighborhood.

The Israeli official spoke on condition of anonymity to relay the conversation between the two leaders.

French President Francois Hollande, speaking shortly afterward in a national address, confirmed the four deaths.
