Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) says dash cams can help immensely with testimonies relating to vehicle-related incidents, such as clearing up false claims from auto accidents or using footage to help solve crimes.

Hikind recently had a dash cam installed in his own car.

“Advances in technology have given us a greater means of protecting ourselves and we should take every advantage of those opportunities wherever possible,” said Hikind.

The assemblyman brought $1 million in state-funded security cameras to cover heavy-traffic areas in Borough Park and Midwood, which have helped police officers solve various crimes.

“Cameras don’t lie,” said Hikind. “When there’s a dispute between a motorist and a police officer, a video record of the incident will go a long way toward establishing the facts of a case. My office often receives complaints from constituents who claim that an aggressive or over-enthusiastic police officer falsely accused them of talking on a cell phone while driving, or not wearing a safety belt. With footage from a dash cam, a judge can more easily establish the facts of a case.”

A friend of mine was a wise guy to a cop that pulled him over. He almost got arrested for some bogus charges. Just as he told the officer that he has a dash cam, the officer said, “drive safely.” He let him go without even a ticket.

more liberals telling us what to do, the bigger problem is the corrupt unprofessional police dept, made up of failed sanitation workers.

America is way behind the curve with installation of dash cams. Countries such as Taiwan have been using dash cams for years and years.

There are cell phone apps that turn your phone into a dash cam. All you need is something to hold your phone by the window.

This device will be installed in all vehicles as soon as some yiddisha guy/gal can sell it to the big 3. I remember when a radio was an option.

I was stopped on 16th ave for not wearing a seat belt. I begged the office and showed I am wearing my seat belt and I never ever put my car into drive without belting. He said license registration NOW. while I was pulling it out of my wallet I told the officer that when I will see you in court you will look like a fool because my dash cam has it all recorded. He gave me the ticket anyway and I am waiting for my upcoming court date.

How about the nypd’s encouraging officers to lie to drivers when they issue summones. They consciously mislead the driver to believe that there are no points connected to the summons, when the summons carries points which effects their insurance rates. They don’t want to be exposed to the court system, so they do everything possible to get the driver to plead guilty and pay the fine. If anyone has received a summons in the last 2 years, I bet the officer told you there wouldn’t be any points……but beware. The same holds true for meter maids claiming there’s an increased fine if you don’t take the summons from them, that’s also bogus, if you go online and pay it on time the penalty is the same
