New York – A New York Assemblyman has come up with a unique way to to highlight what he calls deplorable conditions of New York City roads caused by neglected potholes.

Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) is urging residents of the borough to take matters into their own hands and is pushing for a grass roots response to fight the potholes in the area.
“If the city isn’t going to fix the potholes, we might as well make the best of it,” said Assemblyman Hikind.
Hikind stated that next week he will invite the public to a tree-planting ceremony where a small tree will be planted in a pothole on one of the busier streets.
“Minimally, people will know where that pothole is so they won’t accidentally drive into it.”
“Not only is the snow long gone, we’re just a few weeks from Memorial Day, but there’s still potholes all over the city,” said Hikind. “These conditions are deplorable. They endanger the lives and vehicles of everyone who drives over them or is forced to swerve around them.”
“I know that the Department of Transportation has been filling them in here and there but how long will it take to finish the job? The City is responsible for making certain that the lives of New Yorkers are protected. Let the City bring in more resources as needed.”
Good idea
He must have gotten the idea from Elaine Santore who planted pansies in potholes in Schenectady N.Y. on April 13, 2015.
You did it to yourselves. You voted for a man who never ran anything. He gave away your money to the unions and ran out of money to fix the potholes.
Congrats for voting for a man who pays for abortions with your money. And your askonim were paid off to sell you down the river.
great, take a busy street and plant a tree smack dab in the middle. That’ll help the traffic problem!
Btw is it isn’t his idea. Some woman in long island started doing this a few weeks ago to call attention to this problem.
No political agenda here, I’m just stating a fact.
To make bad matters worse, the city has done patchwork on some of the deplorable intersections – making things worse. The patching material is washed away by rain and even wind. I observed one intersection that was horrific, and was patched over a dozen times since last summer. It is still a mountain range, and cars get tortured going over it. Many potholes need understructure to be repaired. Spending tax dollars to do inferior work that doesn’t even help is incompetent.
Another 15 minutes of the spotlight for Dov Hikind. He does some great things for our community but this is a bit off the wall
