London, UK – On Wednesday, Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis encouraged Jewish men and women to join the Metropolitan Police force, saying that for the benefit of “all of our society,’ Jews need to play a role and be “part of that protection force.”

the JC.com (http://bit.ly/1Sryh3C) reports that Rabbi Mirvis made his comments immediately following a briefing by Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe before 150 attendees at his annual conference of UK rabbis at Finchley Synagogue in north London.
During his remarks, Sir Bernard pleaded with rabbis to urge their congregants to step up efforts in reporting anti-Semitism, saying that the current level of anti-Semitism is “severe.”
“We do know that people don’t tell us everything,” Sir Bernard said.
“saying that the current level of anti-Semitism is “severe.” That sounds very bad, worse than the highest it has been.
Does he say women should join the police force just for political correctness or he means it, If he means it could he still be considered orthodox?
#2 calm down, the UK is not Israel where women have to be neither seen nor heard.
Wow! A rabbi encouraging Jews to work? Has he never been to Israel? Hope the Israeli frummachers don’t hear about this!!
