The Mets fell to the Kansas City Royals four games to one after blowing a ninth-inning lead and eventually losing an extra-inning game Sunday night.
The mayor, a rabid baseball fan, said Monday that it was “eight good innings and some tough, tough luck.”
De Blasio is a Boston Red Sox fan but cheered loudly for the Mets during the postseason.
He took to Twitter before Game 5 and went on a surprising, fourteen-post series encouraging the Mets.
The mayor compared their plight to what the Red Sox faced in 2004 before they overcame a 3-0 series deficit to defeat the New York Yankees.
After the loss, he posted one final time, thanking the Mets for the memories.
What a farce and phony this guy is. He didn’t even write these tweets, a staffer from City Hall did. What a disgrace.
Wait till next mayoral votes and u will see your own defeat,
And about the Mets, there is a phrase ” if its dark in the Bronx so will be in Queens
