Washington – Sens. Rubio, Cruz, Heller Seek To Recognize Jerusalem As The Capital Of Israel

FILE - A general view of the US Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel, 22 January 2014. EPA/ABIR SULTANWashington – U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, along with Sens. Dean Heller and Marco Rubio introduced the Jerusalem Embassy and Recognition Act, legislation that would fulfill America’s commitment to Israel to relocate the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

“Jerusalem is the eternal and undivided capital of Israel,” Sen. Cruz said. “Unfortunately, the Obama administration’s vendetta against the Jewish state has been so vicious that to even utter this simple truth – let alone the reality that Jerusalem is the appropriate venue for the American embassy in Israel – is shocking in some circles.

But it is finally time to cut through the double-speak and broken promises and do what Congress said we should do in 1995: formally move our embassy to the capital of our great ally Israel. I am pleased to co-sponsor this legislation with Senator Heller and Senator Rubio, and I look forward to working with the Trump administration to make this happen.”

“My support for Israel is unwavering. From my very first days as a United States Senator, I have prioritized the strengthening of the important relationship shared between Israel and the United States. That’s why I’m proud to reintroduce the Jerusalem Embassy and Recognition Act. For years, I’ve advocated for America’s need to reaffirm its support for one of our nation’s strongest allies by recognizing Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel.

It honors an important promise America made more than two decades ago but has yet to fulfill. While Administrations come and go, the lasting strength of our partnership with one of our strongest allies in the Middle East continues to endure. My legislation is a testament to that. I’d like to thank Senators Rubio and Cruz for their support for this legislation and look forward to working with the new Administration to turn this bill into law,” said Sen. Heller.

Sen. Rubio said: “Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the Jewish state of Israel, and that’s where America’s embassy belongs. It’s time for Congress and the President-Elect to eliminate the loophole that has allowed presidents in both parties to ignore U.S. law and delay our embassy’s rightful relocation to Jerusalem for over two decades.”

In 1995, Congress passed “The Jerusalem Embassy and Relocation Act,” which recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by moving the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. To date, the promise to move the U.S. Embassy has not yet been fulfilled. The bill withholds certain State Department funds until that relocation is complete.

    1. I dont get it.Why is it so important to have the Embassy in Jerusalem?
These American politicians are so scared of AIPAC.They are the biggest Lekkers.

Lets hope that Trump will bring real peace to the Mideast. Enough with Jewish bloodshed being spilled becuase of Israels inciting bloodthirsty Arabs.

Let us all pray that Hashem should peacefully dismantle the state of Israel without any Jewish bloodshed and Moshicah should come.

      • You are a simple NK fool. No one incites bloodthirsty Arabs. They have been that way from their beginnings. You make them angry, they shoot you. You give them concessions, regardless of how big, they shoot you. Their thirst for blood is not triggered by anything. You are blaming Israelis for bringing about their own murder. That is stupid, and plainly untrue. And you know that (I am assuming your IQ is on the positive side of the scale). I am not a Zionist, and I won’t entertain discussion of the אתחלתא דגאולה stuff. I am not happy that the government violates Shabbos and the other 612 mitzvos (at least a great many of them). I do not subscribe to many of the mandates and laws they have in place. But they are NOT committing suicide by proxy – inciting Arabs. עשו שונא ליעקב is much older that the State of Israel, and predates Palestinian anything, even Islam. If you wanted peace as much as the Israelis do, you would just stay quiet, and honor the restrictions on the internet that your rabbonim decreed.

        • How do you explain that for 2000 years millions of Yiden were killed by Christians not Muslims. Please go to any shul on Tisha Beav. Yeh”The Neturei Karte Invented it. Correct?

        • PLO,Bekitsehr, Streimel, NK What has NK, PLO, Streimel to do with the fact. 2000 years the Muslims lived peacefully with us. Unlike Spain, Russia,Germany and other Christian Countries.

          • OYY VEY reb yid please do read some good history books that deal with the persecution of jews in moslem lands The founder of their -‘religion’ was an anti semite that killed all of the jewish tribes in arabia when they didn’t submit to his new religion and the have never stopped persecuting the ‘dhimmies’- infidels.

    2. These well-meaning officials think that with showing solidarity towards Israeli ideals is for the benefit of their own Jews.

But,no, these are strictly ‘Israeli’ political goals. Moving the embassy is an act that will exacerbate tensions in Israel due to the sensitive nature of Jerusalem.

Torah Jews oppose this, but of course the Zionist embraces it.

      • Never, and I mean Never,in the past was Yerushalyim a so-called sensitive issue. Constant bargaining, capitulation and lack of Jewish pride made it into one. ‘The really pathetic part is that frum goyim like Rubio, who read their Bible, know that G-d gave EY to the Jews.

    3. Moving the embassy to Jerusalem will show that America recognizes Jerusalem as the Capital city of Israel, the homeland of the Jewish people. That is taking a stand FOR Israel. That is a huge statement for the UN and the rest of the world to understand.

    4. To #1,4,7
You are none the sharpest tools in the shed, nor the brightest bulb in the chandelier. What you ARE is chasid shoteh. You embarrass the rest of us Jews. Why don’t you go hide in the cellar with the other rats.
