The family are year round residents of the upstate hamlet according to a relative who agreed to be interviewed only on condition of anonymity.
The fire is believed to have started outside the Estate Drive home, located just up the road from Yeshiva Gedola of South Fallsburg.
According to the relative, the mother became aware of the fire at approximately 9 AM and she quickly evacuated her three young sons, ages seven, four and two and a half from the home, before calling 911.
Both the Fallsburg Police Department and the Fallsburg Fire Company responded to the fire but were unable to extinguish the flames that engulfed the two story home.
The family lost all of their possessions in the fire and friends and neighbors responded immediately with generous donations.
“The people in the community were unbelievable,” said the relative. “They boys were still in their pajamas and they brought them clothing and so many other things. Everyone was so gracious and giving.”
The family was renting the Estate Drive house and has already moved into another nearby rental home.
“We have to jump for joy,” said the relative. “There are stories about fire that are devastating. The things that were lost here are not the things that are truly important so this story had a very, very happy ending.”
