Queens, NY – One day after a 24 year old Far Rockaway Jewish resident was robbed of his suit and overcoat by an armed robber, the NYPD has arrested a suspect in the case.
As previously reported on VIN News (http://bit.ly/2jSbUtG), the robbery took place as the victim returned from Shul to his Neilson Street apartment building at approximately 6:30 PM Friday night.
Police said that 20 year old Angel Valentin of Harlem was arrested on Saturday night and charged with two counts of robbery, stalking, menacing, criminal posses of stolen property, and harassment. It was unknown if Valentin had any prior arrests.
Valentin was positively identified by his victim on Sunday afternoon according to the Rockaway Nassau Safety Patrol.
In an exclusive interview with WCBS News, the victim, identified only as Michael, classified the incident as “the scariest moment in his life.”
Michael said that he was returning home from the synagogue when the suspect held a gun to his head and demanded that he undress.
“I let out a little scream, and he says, ‘shut up or I’m going to shoot you.’ So I got silent pretty quickly,” said Michael.
Friday night’s frigid temperatures paled by comparison to the terror of having a gun held to his head, noted Michael.
“When you’re scared, you don’t really feel,” said Michael. “The weather is not going to make a difference. You’re shaking because you fear for your life,”
