Rockland County, NY – A 26 year old Suffern man is under arrest after being captured on video breaking into a nearby home dressed in a bathrobe and slippers.

The Ramapo Police Department said that Krzysztof Niepostyn illegally entered an Airmont home in the early morning hours of November 25th.
Home surveillance video showed Niepostyn spending close to two minutes worming his way through a kitchen window clad in a grey bathrobe and slippers, entering the residence by climbing over the kitchen sink.
After being posted on the Ramapo Police Department’s Facebook page, the video of Niepostyn’s early morning escapade made its way to media outlets and social media, ultimately reaching more than 200,000 viewers. Police said that they received numerous tips based on the video, leading to Niepostyn’s arrest.
Niepostyn was charged today with burglary in the second degree, as a class C felony and was released after a family member posted $25,000 cash bail. He is due back in the Village of Airmont Justice court on December 7th.
According to The Journal News (http://lohud.us/2ij1zwb) the home was unoccupied at the time of the burglary.
Police did not disclose what items were taken during the incident, citing their ongoing investigation.

The whole incident is strange. The guy is wearing boxer shorts, a robe and flip flops. He is able to open a window or the window was left open on a cold night.
There is a chair under the window just waiting to be used. Something isn’t right with this story..
Is this what the world has come to that our burglars come in through windows? In my day, they would weasel their way in for tea days before, steal the spare key, and come in through the door.
This shouldn’t be news in the first place.
Normally I’m pretty hard on burglars, but the poor guy’s name is Krzysztof, so he’s suffered enough.
Why hasn’t Obama said anything against it? Oh that’s right, he’s not president anymore. So here come the burglars.
Maybe he ran away from a mental institution and was looking for refuge.
