Police said that the collision between the cyclist and the light colored BMW took place at approximately 9:15 this morning at Victory Boulevard and Renwick Avenue.

Officers who responded to the scene found the injured cyclist with injuries that were consistent with having been hit by a car.

The victim, Moshe Lichtman, son in law of Chesed Shel Emes president Rabbi Mendel Rosenberg, was transported by ambulance to Richmond University Medical Center in critical condition where he was undergoing surgery this afternoon.

The driver of the BMW remained on scene, where a mangled black bicycle lay in the roadway at the intersection.

The cause of the accident remains the subject of an ongoing investigation by NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad.

    Terrible.

What is being done to crack down on such dangerous drivers and keep people safe?

A frum guy on a bicycle, Chaim Miller z”l, Hy”d, was killed by a speeding car last Sept. 1 at Ocean Parkway and Quentin road. The police were supposedly investigating. But witnesses saw the car speeding and the windshield showed what happened. Photos and other evidence corroborated it as well. How long are they investigating? For the next twenty years?

I know of other cases where frum people were seriously injured.

What are our representatives doing to protect us?

Fighting against Vision Zero, which aims to stop such deaths?

Senator Felder blocks speed cameras so cars can speed without worrying too much? What a disgrace!

Safety measures need to be increased, not decreased.
