Luxuries such as using your phone in public, buying groceries at the supermarket, or having running water and electricitycannot be taken for granted right now. Recently, the government shut off water for most of the city for 15 daysstraight; imagine not being able to use the restroom, wash a dish, or do laundry for two weeks.

They also shut off electricity for 98 hours beginning a Thursday evening at 5PM with no notice until the early Sunday morning. Hospitals had adults and children on life support or dialysis, dying. Shabbos night was celebrated with the lights of the shabbos candles.

Basic needs such as medications for adults and children are unattainable. Formula, diapers and food for babies, is scarce. Laundry detergents, cleaning supplies, and general hygiene products are a commodity. These basic necessities of life we don’t think twice about, yet the Yidden in Venezuela are excited and thankful each time they are lucky enough to obtain them.

We must be there for our fellow brethren. With your help, we will help them obtain basic necessities to continue living and feed their families. We will also begin the process of helping them move and start new lives abroad. No donation is too great or too small for this important cause, Tizku L’mitzvos!
