Washington – President Donald Trump does not believe reports that Israel is spaying on the United States, he said.

Trump’s remark Thursday was about a report that Israel was likely behind the placement of devices in the vicinity of the White House that can capture cellphone calls.

“I don’t believe that. No, I don’t believe that the Israelis are spying on us,” Trump said on Thursday evening from the South Lawn, before heading to a GOP retreat in Baltimore, Fox News reported. “I find that hard to believe,” he added.

Politico in an article published online Thursday cited three unnamed former senior officials with “knowledge of the matter.”

Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, vigorously denied the report. Israel has pledged since the 1986 capture of Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard not to spy on the United States, although since then there have been multiple instances of the countries accusing the other of spying, however.

Amos Yadlin, the former head of the IDF Military Intelligence Directorate, reportedly called it “fake news spiced with anti-Semitism,” stating that Israel bans spying on the U.S.

  1. Our President also believes you have to show photo ID to buy stuff at a grocery store. He also believes the World Trade Center would not have burned had more asbestos been used in its construction. He thinks vaccines cause diseases. He thinks windmills cause disease. He thinks the Russians did not try any funny business in the 2016 election. He thinks we have invisible airplanes.

    • Hey, Paul, the fact of the matter is that some grocery chains require photo id to buy cigarettes; some even require photo id to buy some over the counter drugs at pharmacies. Regarding the World Trade Centers, civil engineers who studied the collapse of the two twin towers, have stated numerous times that the manner of the construction of those towers in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, whereby corners were cut during construction, resulted in the rapid demise of those towers. Even the architect of the two twin towers stated that he had deep regrets regarding the way that they were built. On the other hand, the new Freedom Tower which was built in 2014, as well as other new skyscrapers in NYC, have more stringent building codes than the Twin Towers did. For example, reinforced stairwells, which will not collapse, reinforced construction of floors with better building material, etc.

  2. As for Israel spying on the U.S., of course it does. What do you think Pollard got in trouble for? In the real world, everyone gathers intelligence on everyone else, not just on potential enemies. Israel spies on the U.S. the U.S. spies in the UK and NATO, NATO spies on Brazil, etc. Intelligence gathering on putative friends is as important as on putative foes.
