JERUSALEM (VosIzNeias) – A state ceremony for the late minister of tourism and former general (res.) Rehavam “Ghandi” Ze’evi was held Tuesday afternoon at the military cemetery on Mt. Herzl on the 18th Hebrew anniversary of his assassination by Palestinian terrorists.
Rabbi Rafi Peretz eulogized Ze’evi quoting him in a post on Facebook recently, “I was raised for the homeland. I was born in a country where smoke and fire, blood and grief, have been in my life ever since. There will be many generations. ”
Rabbi Peretz added, “Today the Knesset and the State of Israel mark the memory of former Minister Rehavam ‘Gandhi’ Ze’evi who was murdered by heinous terrorists. I met him in Nazareth and Judea & Samaria as a Knesset member. Our enemies will not rest and will continue to try to get us out of here. ”
On October 17, 2001, the 75-year-old Ze’evi was assassinated in a Jerusalem hotel by four Palestinian gunmen. They were from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine terrorist organization, acting to avenge Israel’s assassination of their secretary-general, Abu Ali Mustafa, two months earlier.
In 2005, the Knesset passed a law to commemorate Ze’evi’s memory, with special days dedicated to his legacy in Israeli schools.
Ze’evi was a solid staunch supporter of Greater Israel, not a stupid self hating liberal idiot like Rabin. Instead of glorifying Rabin, we should praise Ze’evi….
