Direct Hit On House In Sderot After Elimination Of Islamic Jihad Commander, No Casualties [VIDEO]

JERUSALEM (VosIzNeias) — In the wake of the the airstrike which killed Islamic Jihad leader Bahaa Abu el-Att at 4 A.M. Tuesday, the organization responded with heavy rocket salvos towards Israeli cities. A house in Sderot received a direct hit but there were no casualties.

At 6 A.M. sirens were sounded in Ashdod, the Gedera local authority and the Lachish region. Later sirens sounded in Ashkelon, Zikim and Sderot, as well as in Tel Aviv, Holon and Rishon Letzion.

The Home Command issued strict commands in the wake of the rocket attacks on Israel, cancelling all educational activities in the region around Gaza as well as West Lachish, the Western and Central Negev, and the Southern Coastal region. Additionally the public is advised not to go out for inessential work and it is prohibited to conduct closed events with more than 100 people.

In the Dan and Yarkon regions no educational activities will take place and non-essential work should be avoided. Gatherings of up to 300 people are permitted at closed events.

MDA paramedics treated three people who were lightly injured when running to protected rooms in Gedera, Ashkelon and Ashdod as well as three others who suffered panic attacks.

The IDF has increased its forces surrounding the Gaza strip and is preparing for defensive and offensive scenarios.

Israel railways announced that trains will not run at present between Ashkelon and Beersheva.

The cabinet is meeting in the wake of the escalation in violence from the Gaza strip. A  joint announcement by the Prime Minister and the Chief of Staff will be made at 10:30 A.M.
