Cohen was a well-known figure in the underworld and has previously been linked to several criminal incidents.

Police said they are investigating whether Cohen died of a cardiac problem or due to the use of banned substances.

The Jerusalem Post says that Cohen was convicted of the 1999 murder of Alon Giladi in Los Angeles, for which he served seven years in prison.
