Traffic was heavy on Sunday, as many streets off Bedford Ave were blocked off, as well as the parking spots normally used on those blocks. A stage with loudspeakers was set up, with bleachers on both sides of the street, in preparation for the escort.

The Rebbe’s trip will first begin with a stop in England on Monday, where he will be welcomed at his institutions in Stamford Hill and Golders Green. He will then leave England on Monday night, with a similar escort, and fly to Israel.

Once he arrives in Israel, he will be greeted in the airport by the Edah HaChareidis. He will then travel to Jerusalem where there will be a massive reception at the area of Malchei Yisroel near Sarei Yisroel streets.

The Rebbe will return home to Williamsburg on Thursday.

The NYPD closed the BQE so the Rebbe’s motorcade could make it to the airport in a timely manner.

Who makes the decision to close the BQE for a Rebbe to travel to an airport? Which Rebbes qualify for this?

Insane – is this display of lights and sirens not “Hisgares Be’umos”??? Is there any reason for this public spectacle and the impact it has on the various other drivers, etc. that are trying to live there lives in peace?

We (ordinary yidden) will suffer because of this. Why cant he be like any other Rebbi, fake like him or real Rebbi. What does he need this for, why did he request it.

In June, 1965, Rabbi Teitelbaum, the Satmar leader at that time, went to Eretz Yisrael by ship. I remember that he boarded the Queen Elizabeth, which went to England. There, he must have taken a Zim line ship to Israel. I also remember seeing a photo of an NYPD cop gently trying to restrain one of his followers, as he had to protect the Rabbi.

I forgot to mention that at that time, one of my co-workers was a Black Minister; he was a clergyman on a part time basis. I could tell that he was impressed, when he described the scene of seeing all of the Satmar, watching Rabbi Teitelbaum board the ship, as that news story appeared in the local newspapers.

He will be away for 3 days if you don’t include the travel days. How much did this display cost the taxpayers?
Why can’t he allow the necessary time to get to the airport like the rest of us? Women make up 1/2 the population but I don’t see any. Where is his wife?

Why are you commentators upset. You don’t seem upset with gay parades all over Israel including Jerusalem. You don’t get upset with Chilul Shabboss and tattoo shops. Your all fakers. A rav or rebbe should get respect. At funerals of great rabbis the streets are closed. That’s good. Let the reform Jews see religious Jews increasing all over. Good news. Let’s hope every street in Israel closes on Shabboss as well.

In my eyes, this is a historic visit of the satmar rabbi who is carrying along with him the amount of 4 million dollars! to support the yeshivos in Erets Yisruel who are not taking money of the secular Isreal goverment because the will of the government to make all frum yidden to be chilonim and leave the torah. to be mechallel shabas, to eat yom kipur, and levi immorale as they are do in the IDF…

So this visit is something historic, not only a motorcade for the satmar rabbe, because the rebbe is treveling a lot of times during the years to many places and there is never such a motorcade, but now it is something more, this is the time to give Kuved for a rebbe who have a clear goal – to help the yidden is Erets Yisruel stay string with their Yidishkiet. and all chasidim and not only chasidim, but all frum jews over the world are mispallel that he should be matsliach in his ways!

What I saw were thousands of Chassidim singing Ki MiTzion Tezei Torah. It wasn’t just the Rebbe going to Eretz Yisroel it was thousands of Satmar Chassidim expressing intense yearning, love and Devotion for Eretz Yisroel. This is a tremendous Kiddush Hashem and I am not a Satmar Chosid.
