WASHINGTON (VINnews) — In an attempt to gain insight into the country’s feelings towards the current impeachment proceedings, the popular petition website change.org sent out an email asking the public to take a side.

The email highlights two petitions created by different people, which take opposing sides. The email states, “This is a historic moment and you have a right to be heard. The Democrats in Congress have begun public impeachment hearings. It’s all leading to the question everyone is asking: Will President Trump be the 3rd president in our nation’s history to be impeached? Congress needs to hear from you. That is why we are making sure they know where you stand. Do you agree with Darlene’s petition AGAINST impeachment? Or do you support Ian and Daniella’s petition IN FAVOR of impeaching President Trump?”

The email then includes two buttons, one for each petition. At the time of this writing, the petition against impeachment has 273,955 signatures.

While the petition favoring impeachment has an overwhelming majority of 573,040 signatures.

At first glance it would seem that the majority of the public feels positively towards impeachment.

However upon a closer look, the petition supporting impeachment was initiated 3 years ago, while the petition opposing impeachment was initiated a mere 2 months ago.

According to this, one can perhaps derive that the opposite is true, as the newer petition appears to be steadily gaining ground.

Do you feel this was a slanted move or just an oversight by Change.org?

These petitions are meaningless since people can sign numerous times and websites for and against broadcast the need to sign

Clever – making your own Y/N petition for comments on a Y/N petition on Trump.
