WILLIS, Texas (AP) — Authorities say a guard fatally shot a person suspected of trying to rob an armored truck at a bank north of Houston and another suspect remains on the run.

Police Chief James Nowak says two individuals tried to rob a Brink’s armored truck Tuesday morning outside a Chase bank in Willis.

Authorities say one of the truck’s guards fatally shot and killed one of the suspects.

Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office are searching a nearby wooded area for the other suspect, who fled on foot. That suspect is described as tall and dressed in black.

Authorities have not released the name of the suspect killed during the attempted robbery.

Willis is located about 50 miles (80 kilometers) north of Houston.

  1. These criminals made a fatal decision of trying to play with fire, and one of them winded up dead; I have zero sympathy for such scum. In my local community, about twenty years ago, a member of the Ohio National Guard, who just came back from serving in Bosnia, was working as an armored car guard in a suburban community near me, which never had a homicide before. As the armored car guard came out of a bank with the cash, a vicious robber got the drop on him. The guard handed over the money, but the robber killed him anyway. Fortunately, a witness followed the robber’s car, and reported him to the cops, who arrested him; that piece of garbage laughed and grinned during his trial. The prosecutors asked for the death penalty. However, because there were minority members on the jury, and because the defendant was a minority, the jury was deadlocked on the death penalty. Instead, he was sentenced to life. This is typical of the state of our legal system today. Now, the taxpayers will have to support that animal for the next sixty years, with color tv, medical and dental care, movies, and free weights. Incidentally, the guard whom he killed was also a minority member, and a respected member of his National Guard unit.
