The fire broke out Friday afternoon just before Shabbos on Sharabi Street in Netanya.

Firefighters arriving at the scene found most of the family already outside when they arrived.

The parents of the children, and four other children aged two to six, were transported to Laniado Hospital in Kiryat Sanz, Netanya, to be treated for smoke inhalation.

After searching the building, Refael and Eliezer were rescued and evacuated to Meir Medical Center.

The two children tragically passed away over Shabbat in the hospital due to smoke inhalation.

It is suspected that the apartment where the fire broke out was divided into several rooms with illegal extras. The children were in a small room tucked away in a corner with no ventilation, during the fire, making it difficult for them to escape.

MDA paramedic Assaf Applehi said: “When we reached the street, we saw thick smoke rising from a two-story building.

A fundraiser has been set up to assist the Ochana family.
