Multiple sources confirm that the intial shooting in the cemetery involved plainclothes officers. This indicates a possible undercover criminal investigation gone wrong.

“Our officers were under fire for hours,” Jersey City Police Chief Michael Kelly said.

He would not say exactly what set off the shooting but that he believes the officer who was killed was trying to stop some “bad guys.”

The storefront from which the shooting continued has been verified as the JC Kosher Supermarket, located at 223 MLK Drive. According to a VIN news source, the Kosher store is owned by a Jewish Satmar family from Brooklyn.

As of 3 PM, it has been confirmed that the original officer that was shot in the cemetery has passed away. Two more officers were shot and are in stable condition. Additionally, one Jewish person was shot, and is in stable condition.

As of approximately 3:40 PM, it has been verified that the police gained entry into the store. There are at least 4 people confirmed deceased inside the store.

As of approximately 4:00 PM, it has been verified that there were at least 2 Jewish victims killed in the shooting.

There is an additonal Jewish victim that was shot, and is in stable conditon. This victim is expected to be discharged from the hospital shortly.

Nearby schools and a local Yeshiva had been placed on lock down as the situation unfolded. Martin Luther King Drive had been cleared of people and was closed by police in both directions.

The Whitehouse reported that President Trump had been briefed on the shooting, and is continuing to monitor the situation.

The FBI joined the scene, and asked the public to stay away from the area.

City Public Safety Director James Shea said that authorities believe the bloodshed was not an act of terrorism but that it was still under investigation.

What can we do to help people not end up feeling like this is the only recourse left in their lives.

I never understood why anyone would move to Jersey City instead of up to Sullivan County – and even in Sullivan County why do people move to Monticello and other ghettos instead of nice Jewish areas like the Town of Bethel? So scary.

Pray tell, why satmar chasidim chose jersey city as their neighborhood, surrounded by dangerous criminals?

My limited understanding of why live there.
there are some Satmar investors that bought housing there that seem to be likely to go up in value. They don’t mind renting them to young families that can not buy yet elsewhere.

If this didn’t happen in a ‘kosher’ store would any of you care? The VIN commenters above once again showed their obvious racism and SGM. (Shtetl Ghetto Mentality). Bethel in Sullivan County? At least 4 are dead (besides the perps) and an argument breaks out over where ‘shayna’ Yidden should live? Gevalt.

I think it would be worth remembering by next election how much blood is on Donald Trumps hands for not passing common sense gun laws.

It’s very simple. Everyone knows that if he would bring up the common sense gun laws it would pass. And everyone knows that if it would pass, there were be less blood shed. Hence his hands are full of blood. So what do I care about any of the positive stuff economy etc. If he’s full of blood!
