WASHINGTON (AP) — Melania Trump on Friday appeared to condone her husband’s criticism of 16-year-old Greta Thunberg, saying through a spokeswoman that her 13-year-old son, Barron, is in a different category than the teenage climate activist “who travels the globe giving speeches.”

“He is a 13-year-old who wants and deserves privacy,” spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said in an emailed statement the day after President Donald Trump lashed out at Thunberg because Time magazine had named her “Person of the Year.”

The first lady’s apparent acceptance of her husband’s actions stood in contrast to the work she’s doing through her “Be Best” initiative to combat online bullying and teach children to be kind.

The president tweeted Thursday that “Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend!” He said it was “ridiculous” that Time had chosen her for the honor.

Trump mocked the teenage activist, who has Asperger’s syndrome, a week after the first lady tweeted angrily at Stanford law professor Pamela Karlan for mentioning Barron during her testimony as a Democratic witness at a House Judiciary Committee impeachment hearing.

“A minor child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics. Pamela Karlan, you should be ashamed of your very angry and obviously biased public pandering, and using a child to do it,” Mrs. Trump tweeted.

At one point during her testimony, Karlan said that while Trump can “name his son Barron, he can’t make him a baron.” Karlan was trying to make a point that Trump is a president and not a king. At the end of the hearing, Karlan apologized for the comment.

Grisham said the first lady will continue to use “Be Best” to help children.

“It is no secret that the president and first lady often communicate differently — as most married couples do,” Grisham said.

Former first lady Michelle Obama encouraged Thunberg, saying, “don’t let anyone dim your light,”

Mrs. Obama wrote on Twitter from Vietnam, where she was traveling this week. “Like the girls I’ve met in Vietnam and all over the world, you have so much to offer us all,” she wrote. “Ignore the doubters and know that millions of people are cheering you on.”

If Thunberg wants to be taken seriously like an adult, she needs to take criticism like an adult.

The left are chicken little morons Duluth their praise for this deranged brainwashed child whose parents should be charged with child abuse.

The brainwashed child greta has made herself a public figure with her deranged rantings to the UN and elsewhere so she is subject to critical by anyone and everyone, being a teenager doesn’t give you immunity from criticism and ridicule if you make your law of a public figure lecturing the world.

If Barron Trump wishes to be outside of political discussion his family ought to keep him outside of political discussion.

Mrs Trump has no control over her husband’s bullying sweets and remarks at his rallies. He does whatever he wants as shown by his affairs with Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal. They are not equals in their marriage. She can’t stiffel him.

Nicholas Sandmann, a teen , bullied by WAPA and major media outlets for doing nothing except wearing a MAGA cap, is suing for 250 mil.
Had he worn a Climate Change hat he would have been the first Greta.
So much for corrupt media caring about kids. Oh, how they swooned when the kid Barron Trump was used by that screetching Constitutional scholaress Pam Karlan. Recall that they also poked fun at him after Trump won.

If Greta wants to be part of the political discussion the people have a right to keep her in the political discussion.

It’s very different . Greta chose to be a public first figure . Baron wants privacy .

I didn’t even know till a day ago that Greta suffers from a mental illness . To me it sounds a bit sick and exploitive to use a mentally ill child do make a point. Who are her parents? And how dare they use her like that ? This is child abuse. Personally if the messenger is one who is mentally ill I usually don’t take them as serious. Not because they are not just as human but bec it’s the nature of the illness which causes extreme outbursts lo alinu. May she have a refua from this illness very soon

All Greta is, us a wana be. Its rediculous for the Times Magazine to make her person of the year. All she did was give some stupid speach in the un and ignore the President when he walked by. Melania Trump has a full right to critisize her. This little putz is going and mocking anyone and anything that doesn’t agree to her veiw. If she gives it shes got to take it. She cant all of a sudden start crying when someone answers back. I mean this whole thing is so absurd. Its an avodah zara. Truly makes no sense..

The amt of vitriol vs Greta by VIN kapos is astonishing. In her country and in Amerika there is (still) freedom of speech and freedom of assembly. There is also SCIENCE. If you live in a medieval shtetl and dress and think like its 1500 you don’t understand much. That’s your prerogative but attacking a kid with guts shows how threatened you are of a 16 year old girl. VIN kapos are nothing but bullies and sissies.

Was Trump’s mocking the girl Presidential or even appropriate for a responsible mature adult?
