The Amber Alert was issued for Karol Sanchez, after she was supposedly kidnapped by a group of men along a street in the Melrose section of the Bronx. Surveillance video released by the NYPD shows two men jumping out of a car and grabbing 16-year-old Karol Sanchez as she walked with her mom. Her mom tries to fight back but is pushed away as Sanchez is forced into the beige four-door sedan with two other men inside. The car with four men and the victim inside then drives off, fleeing east on Eagle Avenue.

At 2:33 PM on Tuesday, the NYPD 40th Precinct tweeted that Sanchez had been found.

“WE HAVE A VICTORY TODAY!! Karol has been found!!!” read the tweet. “Thank you to all who have worked very hard to track down the people involved in this case!!!”

But now Sanchez has confessed to staging the entire incident.

According to reports, Sanchez reappeared in her neighborhood at around 2:30 PM and turned herself into police, leaving bystanders stunned.

“We was at the pole over there, looking at her picture, and we walked up the block, she was crossing the street to to the the cop car, and I was like ‘Yo, that’s her right there,’” said Tommy Feliciano.

“She was shaken up. She was bending over, grabbing her knees, and discussing with the police. And that’s when they took her into the parking garage for questioning,” Zani Koxha said.

Sanchez was then brought into the NYPD 40th Precinct for questioning. Police have not filed any charges at this time, as they would like to talk to all people invoolved before making a decision.

According to CBS, unhappiness surrounding family issues is what motivated Sanchez to stage the kidnapping.

I still would like to know why it took them 10 hours to put out an Amber Alert.

She must be charged with filing a false police report; in addition, the Corporation Counsel of the City of NY, should file a civil lawsuit to all those who took part in this sham, to recover the costs involved in the search.

She should be sent to prison for a long time. And be made to pay restitution.

No big deal. If you are from the right race, you’ll get away with it and even make a few dollars while you’re at it. It worked for me!

Before you punish her, you might want to find out what precipitated this. Was she influenced by an older man, mental illness, abuse, etc. If there is no reasonable excuse, then they need to figure out what sort of punishment makes sense. It’s a very serious crime that she did, but no one was hurt and destroying her for pure punishment purposes may not be the most constructive.

Punish her for what? She didn’t commit any crime. As far as I’m aware roll play isn’t against the law…
