JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In late drama less than 24 hours before polls open in Israel, last-minute negotiations are taking place between the Likud and Jewish Force in an attempt to persuade Jewish Force leader Itamar Ben-Gvir to pull out of the race for the Knesset.

In the previous election, Ben-Gvir garnered 84,000 votes which is equal to about 2 electoral seats in the Knesset. However the electoral threshold stood at 140,000 votes. At present many of Ben-Gvir’s voters have left him but there is still a significant group which will vote for him despite jeopardizing the chances of the right wing to attain a majority of 61 seats in the Knesset.
The negotiations are regarding Ben-Gvir’s demands that Khan Al-Achmar, the illegal Arab settlement near Ma’ale Adumim, be evacuated in accordance with the court order, and the electoral threshold be lowered to 2% as it was previously. Ben-Gvir also wants hardline Likudnik May Golan to represent Jewish Force in the Knesset.
At present negotiations have not progressed to a formal statement by Jewish Force and leader Itamar Ben-Gvir claims that the Likud backed down from agreements reached overnight but last-minute attempts continue to persuade Jewish Force to pull out.
Let him go. He has no chance. Only to spoil.
Stay in the race. It’s better no government. It’s better for Israel otherwise all of Europe and others can pressure Israel more. Be a spoiler. And you never know if the so called polls are right. Gevir stay in. Don’t let the crooked politicians promise you things and then double cross you as they did already twice.
