Rosh Yeshiva Of Telshe Chicago Tests Positive For COVID-19

CHICAGO (VINnews) — The Rosh Yeshiva of the well known Telshe Chicago, Rabbi Shmuel Yeshaya Keller, has tested positive for Coronavirus.

The news was officially shared by the Yeshiva on Thursday in an email.

In the email, the Yeshiva instructs anyone who was within 6 feet of Rabbi Keller for 5 to 7 minutes, anytime since Shushan Purim morning till now, to immediately self-quarantine for a period of 14 days from the time of contact.

The full message reads as follows:

We regret to inform you that our Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Shmuel Yeshaya Keller shlit”a, has received a positive diagnosis for the COVID-19 virus. We are loathe to share this personal medical information, and do so only l’toeles harabbim, and with Rav Shmuel Yeshaya’s reshus.

B”H Ray Shmuel Yeshaya’s condition is good, and he is under the care of his physician.

As per medical recommendation, anyone who was within 6′ of Ray Keller for a period of at least 5-7 minutes, since Shushan Purim morning, should immediately enter quarantine for 14 days from the time of contact. Please see the attached chart for more detailed information regarding direct contact and quarantine.

There are additional cases within the Yeshiva which are pending, and if any are confirmed we will share that information with you at that time.

This is a Rosh Yeshivah we’re talking about. If you’re going to urge people who were in his vicinity to self-quarantine at least use Daled Amos instead of six feet.
