ATTN: ALL LAKEWOOD RESIDENTS: Public Service Announcement

L’Toeles Hatzibur – Public Service Announcement for those in the Lakewood Area

We want you to have as much advance notice as possible – if you were planning on traveling for Pesach it is near certain that you will be unable to, and that you will be making Pesach here in Lakewood.  This applies even if you have been in quarantine for 14 days, most Kehillos are NOT allowing any visitors, most states have travel restrictions and Rabonim and physicians are opposed to any such travel.

This applies to the 1st days, last days and Chol Hamoed alike.

See attached for some of the Kehilla notices from around the country, from places like Cleveland, Miami, Chicago, Detroit, and Baltimore.

We strongly advise that you make your plans NOW for Pesach in Lakewood. With social distancing rules, and the number of infected growing, you CANNOT count on joining with other local families for Pesach either.

The Kehilla and the BMG Poskim will be giving guidance shortly on things you can do this year and we will be sharing additional tips for you.

We have also created the “pesach box” so that you can easily buy the essential kitchen supplies that you will need, without endangering yourself by going out and shopping.  If this is your FIRST time making Pesach and you live in the Lakewood area, and do not yet have kitchen-houseware supplie,s this will be made available.  We will provide more info on how to order the box next week.  Attached is our preliminary flyer, we are working nonstop on to ensure that we have enough supplies for all and will provide all info early next week.

Wishing a shabbos of Menucha and Refuos for all.

    1. Message to Lakewood: Stay home!
Message heard by Lakewood: If everyone is staying home than JUST me and my family going won’t cause problems. My parents are older and can’t make Pesach alone, I’m a special case. We’ve been going for years and can’t stop now. My children will be more comfortable at Bubby’s house. Kibud Av takes precedents. It’s all upto Hashem, I’m sure the Mitzvah will protect us. If we show up an hour before Y”T they can’t throw us out.

      • I hope you are being facetious to make a case for sheltering in place. If not then:
If you absolutely cannot observe Pesach alone without endangering yourselves and/or others then you would be better off foreging Pesach this year so that you and others can celebrate many more in the future.
Taking a life is a much bigger sin than foregoing observing Pesach. If you spread Covid-19 you can be guilty of taking many lives.

    2. World gone mad separating all families for Pesach . What kind of craziness is this ? What about divorced single moms Or dads with kids ? How can you force every newlywed couple to make Pesach ?

This is too much . Sure we need to social distance but you can’t ignore mental health like this . I can’t imagine how my disfunctional divorced neighbor can make Pesach herself . We need strong people to fight the doctors and experts and say you have gone to far .

      • Would it be better for all of the people you mentioned got sick because someone who had the virus but didn’t know it spread to it them? Is it worth the risk?

      • Actually Archie, it is probably not nearly enough. Violators should be segregated behind high fences until this emergency is over. It is for the protection of the masses who don’t violate the law.

      • love your chutzpah. A lot is overhyped. people are running dry and insane. My family all had mild symtoms thank Hashem, and now we cant invite anyone cuz 2 members didnt have it? Losing sanity isnt a light thing. Hope you stay well and may all of Klal Yisrael celebtate a beautiful healthy yomtov.

    3. Plan on going to my son. He most likely had virus already and I may have too, a very mild case. So it will be just immediate family, Won’t be exposing anyone else .

      • Have you considered the first responders and hospital staff who could be affected if you crashed on the way there and back? Have you considered the attendant at the gas station who will be exposed when you travel, since you admit to carrying this disease? You believe your son carries the disease and you want him to go grocery shopping to prepare for your visit and spread the illness further? Why can’t you stay home, you selfish, foolish person? Observe and celebrate at home, using zoom, which most rebbes now allow for the purpose of these unique times.

        • its long spread everywhere. JUst a matter of time and we shd be mispallel that it should be mild. Mahy people on ventilators , may they have a gantze refuah, were quarantined for a long time, and WHAT? Containment is sadly over besides for people that literally dont leave their house. May H bless us all with a joyous healthy yom tov.

        • Rabbinim do not allow zoom for the Seder . Chas vasholom. As reported on vin that’s been fake news .
Only reform rabbonim allow it . Otherwise it’s chillul yom tov issur dorasa

    4. Disagree with me if you want, but the “pious” people who sneak off to minyan thinking g-d will approve are not that much different than suicide bombers who believe there will be a party waiting for them in heaven. Seeing how reckless frum people are being now – you can finally understand the logic behind suicide bombers and how they actually believe what they believe.
