Kedma is a non-profit based in ISRAEL that has created a network of charitable organizations and volunteers throughout Jerusalem.
*Dial-A-Savta* is a new initiative started by Kedma which is geared at connecting senior citizens and other individuals who are homebound because of COVID19 restrictions with volunteers who are interested in speaking with them daily and forming a relationship during these difficult times. The volunteers will call/video call/zoom to check in on their “buddies” and provide some much needed long distance company during this isolating period.
While this program’s goal is social in nature, the volunteers will also have a point person in each community whom they can contact in the event that a red flag is raised during a conversation such as lack of food, shortage of meds, etc.
Significantly, Dial-A-Savta is a stand alone program, but can also be used to supplement organized synagogue/community programs as an additional social outlet for those who are homebound during otherwise long and quiet days. We have volunteers who have signed up from all over the world who are interested in working with seniors — we would like to partner with you to find those individuals who are in need of Dial-A-Savta.
