Researchers at the institute, headed by Professor Shmuel Shapira, claim that the developmental stage of the antibody is over and the institute is now involved in registering it as a patent. After it is registered, researchers will search for an international company which can mass-produce the antibody in commercial quantities. The antibody has yet to be named.
Defense Minister Bennett said that “I’m proud of the members of the biological institute who have made such a momentous breakthrough. The creativity and the Jewish brain have produced this amazing achievement. The defense establishment will continue to act at the forefront of the battle against the coronavirus.”
Prime Minister Netanyahu said today at a video conference of leaders that Israel will invest 60 million dollars in research and development regarding diagnosing, treating and developing new medicines to combat the coronavirus.
