JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Prime Minister Netanyahu chose today to tweet two letters which were written 32 years ago. In one letter he thanked the Lubavitcher Rebbe for his “moral encouragement” while Netanyahu served as Israel’s ambassador to the UN. He stressed that his meetings with the Rebbe gave him “great spiritual inspiration” and added that the Rebbe’s “uncompromising support for our right to Eretz Yisrael gave me support at the most difficult hours.”

The Rebbe responded a few days later, blessing Netanyahu that he should succeed “in Gashmius and Ruchniyus” (In spirituality and in worldly matters). He added that he hoped Netanyahu’s aliyah to Eretz Yisrael would be an aliyah (elevation) in other ways and that he would continue to use his talents in the same manner.
Netanyahu wrote that the Rebbe’s words “touched me then and still touch me to this day.”
