JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Seven members of a wealthy Bukharan Jewish family arrived in Israel from NY on a private jet to bury their mother who had passed away from COVID-19 next to their father in Jerusalem. This is unfortunately a common occurrence since the outbreak of the virus but the family also allegedly violated health ministry regulations by attending a large funeral despite the requirement for all people arriving from abroad to quarantine for 14 days.

Mako reported that the family paid nearly 200,000 dollars to transport their mother directly to Israel. The family, whose main business is in diamonds, is well known for their philanthropy to the community, and have supported Bukharan Jews worldwide, including communities in Queens and Arizona. Around 100 people awaited their arrival at Har Ha’Menuchot cemetery in Jerusalem and a family friend said that if not for the coronavirus “you would have seen thousands of people here.”
After the funeral family members continued to a Holon synagogue where other family members as well as friends and acquaintances who had not attended the funeral awaited their arrival.
Israeli police placed the blame on the health ministry which requires people arriving back in Israel to quarantine for 14 days. Police said that they enforce regulations and treat violations in accordance with health ministry lists which are transferred to them.

I can’t stand these holier than thou types on this site, who will blast the family for trying to bury their Mother, and try to blame them for spreading a virus, which they probably don’t have. Yet, these same types wouldn’t dare say a word about Israelis or other nationalities who smoke. Smoking causes millions of deaths per year (i.e. respiratory diseases, all kinds of cancers, strokes, etc.). Also, what about deaths from second hand smoke.
It is not a issue of “Holier than Thou”, one stupid person, decides that the rules don’t apply to them can put many people in danger. Where is the Kovod Hames in this…it is once again a Chilul Hashem-by people who should know better, but put their selfish needs first. Feh!!
I hope this family, which has suffered so much from this disease, did not infect another family.
The biggest chilul hashem is that America allowed thousands of Jews from uzbekestan to enter this country yet too many of them don’t pay taxes. Actually I have yet to meet a single one who does. Not by violating rules of all Gedolai Yisrael and the Government. They defiantly endangered the lives of the Yidden in Israel. No Kovod is due them, quite to the contrary they disgraced their mother and themselves.
