Spanish news site El Pais reported that 27 people attended the private party, double the permitted number in Spain which is still suffering the effects of COVID-19 in many regions. It is unclear though whether the prince contracted the virus at the party or before it.
The Belgian royal family reported that the prince had tested positive and was suffering from ‘light’ symptoms of the virus.
