MK Liberman: Chareidim Raising Children As “Election Fodder” To Maintain Political Power

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Yisrael Beitenu chairman Avigdor Liberman attacked the new government as well as the Chareidi parties in a Knesset Channel interview Monday.

Liberman referred to the establishment of the government and said that “this was not a process of forming a government but rather daylight robbery by robbers. Gantz and Netanyahu robbed the people of Israel by taking money from the unemployed and giving it to idle people, establishing numerous superfluous ministries whose names nobody knows and creating unnecessary bureaucracy.”

Liberman added that “in the coalition agreement they gave 1.2 billion shekels to Shas and UTJ, people who never paid income tax or national insurance. Netanyahu sold the secular, traditional and religious Zionists to the Chareidim. He isn’t willing to do one thing to stop Chareidi expansion. They got influence and power which they never previously had, since they control the three main Knesset committees and can veto any economic procedures.”

Liberman attacked the Chareidi parties themselves, stating that “there’s no reason that the state of Israel should fund an educational system which prevents children from studying the core curriculum. They are preparing a generation of paupers and welfare cases, that is there goal in order to keep them dependent on the Chareidi establishment. Just as once people spoke of cannon fodder, here they are raising election fodder. It is exactly like this and against all Jewish values.”

Liberman added that his stated goal is to put the Chareidi parties in opposition so that “we can make a new set of preferences with soldiers, young people and couples as well as those who serve in the army and do reserve duty and pay taxes coming first.”

MK Yisrael Eichler of UTJ responded that “Liberman is sitting on the Knesset channel and inciting like a wild animal against Chareidi children claiming that they are cannon fodder. Liberman accuses the Chareidim of robbing money from the unemployed to give to those who never payed taxes. After he failed to marginalize the Chareidim and the nation removed him from power, he incites against them in anti-Semitic style like in times of old. How can the Knesset channel serve as the stage for such anti-Semitic rhetoric?”
