In a statement issued Tuesday by his office in Dallas, the former Republican president said he and wife Laura Bush “are anguished by the brutal suffocation of George Floyd and disturbed by the injustice and fear that suffocate our country.”

Bush did not refer specifically toward President Donald Trump, but he called the harassment and threats toward African American protesters “a shocking failure.”

“It is a strength when protesters, protected by responsible law enforcement, march for a better future. … Those who set out to silence those voices do not understand the meaning of America — or how it becomes a better place,” he said.

I’m Pretty sure his home and his neighborhood have not been lootrd, vandalized, trashEd and burned to the ground. No one is denying anybody’s right to protest. It’s the thugs and hoodlums that need to be dealt with strongly,And our elected officials have failed miserably

Not a word about hard working innocents losing their livlihood, property and lives.

Where is Dubya when a black cop kills a white perp? Something that happens FAR more often than the other way around?

I have lost soooooo much respect for him.

There are protesters and there rioters. They are not the same thing, even though you think they look the same. Sort of how some people confuse Amish and Chasidim. Or Satmar and Lubavitch.
President Bush is talking about the protesters, who have every right to protest. It’s a right that is the fabric of what this great country of ours is made of. That right does not and should not be deminished because some politicians, even the one of the highest accord, can not tell the difference between a protester and a rioter.
Once we allow the abrogation of rights of some, the rights of all are in jeopardy.

George W.Bush (#43), was an incompetent fool, who dragged us into a useless no win war in Iraq, which lasted for nearly nine years, with thousands of Americans (and Iraqi civilians), killed for nothing. He preached against Clinton’s infidelity, yet he carried on a three year affair with Condoleeza Rice. The FBI and CIA, under his watch, were responsible for 9/11/01, as those agencies did not share vital information with each other, and both ignored warnings which could have prevented that attack. Also, he tried to prevent the formulation of the 9/11 Commission; even when the Commission published its findings, the results were watered down, as nobody was held responsible. He knew that his own wife, Laura Bush, violated the no smoking rules at the White House, and she even sent the Secret Service, as her personal errand boys to convenience stores in D.C., to buy her cigarettes; what chutzpah!

Incidentally, his own Father, George H.W. Bush, did not speak out against the Rodney King beating for weeks, back in 1991.

let this be a lesson democrats and Republicans are both leftists, we must stop blindly supporting Republicans.

Democrats support evil and their propagandist media lie for them.
