Rio de Janeiro (JTA) – A Brazilian pastor prayed to God to “destroy the Jews like vermin” and bring about a second Holocaust during a sermon in Rio de Janeiro.

“Massacre the Jews, God, hit them with your sword, for they have left God, they have left the nations,” Pastor Tupirani da Hora Lores shouted at dozens of congregants earlier this month at his Geracao Jesus Cristo church, a recording of the event shows. His congregants are heard repeating his words passionately.

“They contrived, went with prostitutes, and when they were told to repent they said they’d do it but they lied,” the pastor said, possibly in reference to the forced conversions to Christianity during the Inquisition.

“God, what you have done in World War II, you must do again, this is what we ask for in our prayers to you: Justice, justice, justice!” da Hora Lores shouted at his church, a small and radical evangelical congregation.

Sinagoga Sem Fronteiras, a network of Jewish communities in Brazil, filed a complaint for incitement against da Hora Lores with federal police, which said they were looking into the case.

“With each complaint and lawsuit, in each state, we aim to publicize the offenses and actions taken against offenders so that people will start thinking twice before taking such actions,” Rabbi Gilberto Ventura, the Sao Pauolo-based founder of Sinagoga Sem Fronteiras, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

Let the corona virus punish him with near death, and let the Israeli vaccine save his life. If after that experience he still hates jews, the world will know who saved his life.

Nothing good comes to wishing him prolonged harm.

you know, this guy needs to check out God’s reply to Eliyahu when he complained about the Jews, and Moses when he separated his tent from them after they sinned in a serious way. Eliyahu was veeeryy demoted. Moses was told to go back to the people. the defenders of the Jewish people fair well, their enemies do not. Christains accept these stories, so… why the dichotomy?

so, as a Jew who grew up in a fairly sheltered life, and became more religious in highschool…

i know lots of Jews are becoming religious. the ones who are strive to improve themselves. i have a friend who went vegetarian to avoid eating non kosher meat because she was becoming more religious than she was raised. 2 of my classmates grew up and became orthodox, and i don’t think they were when i was in school with them.

in today’s world, how easy is it to get lost? we have computers and tvs and phones and access to anything. there’s social pulls we’re up against eroding traditional values and worldviews, there’s all sorts of obstacles in life as well. going off in today’s world should be view compassionately like people taking a tylenol, trying to numb the pain, or just greatly confused. it might not be the right thing, but is a pastor representing a merciful God going to ignore the great difficulties of our times (which, if we were not aware of before, we surely are now!!), human nature, and fail to have compassion?

the holocaust took our leaders, so is the answer to take away more? this makes no sense, he should be praying for our schools to succeed and families to flourish so we can do what we are built to do, grow, learn, and be a light.

this calling is mistaken, what’s blinding him from truth?
