NEW YORK (VINnews) — Kimberly Guilfoyle, Donald Trump Jr.’s girlfriend and a key member of Trump’s fundraising team for his campaign, tested positive for coronavirus, according to Sergio Gor, chief of staff for the Trump Victory Finance Committee which Guilfoyle is chairing. Gor told the New York Times that Kimberly was “immediately isolated” and that “she’s doing well, and will be retested to ensure the diagnosis is correct since she’s asymptomatic but as a precaution will cancel all upcoming events.” Donald Trump Jr was tested negative, but as a precaution he is also self isolating and is cancelling all public events.
Guilfoyle attended recent events with the president at Tulsa, Oklahoma and at Phoenix, Arizona but was not close to the president himself. She was set to attend a Fourth of July event with the president at Mount Rushmore but tested positive prior to the event according to a campaign source. Persons who will be close to the president undergo a routine test for the virus beforehand and Guilfoyle tested positive.
Guilfoyle formerly worked for Fox News but earlier this year she assumed the role of chairwoman of the Trump Victory Finance Committee. She successfully broadened the number of fundraisers for the campaign. In recent weeks she and Donald Trump Jr. hosted numerous fundraisers for the campaign and she met with a lot of campaign donors.
At these events Guilfoyle was not seen wearing a mask. Recently Donald Trump Jr. posted online suggesting that masks were ineffective in preventing the spread of the virus, although experts now maintain that wearing a mask could reduce transmission of the virus by as much as 50%.
