Girl Detained By Israeli Police: ‘I’m Still Trembling’

24

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Batya Getter, the 11-year-old girl detained by police because she did not have a mask, has still not fully recovered from the traumatic episode. Getter’s father told reporters that he had not realized the severity of the situation. “I told my wife to go and pick her up from the street”, he recalls, adding that his wife then told him that Batya was in tears and was detained by police with her little sisters.

Police claimed that they had merely warned Batya to wear a mask but the following clip clearly shows otherwise. The policeman calls Batya’s mother and tells her that her daughter will get a fine. Only through the intervention of other passersby did the police agree to leave without giving the fine.

Batya’s father said that when he asked his daughter what she felt afterwards, she replied that “I’m still trembling.” He asked why his daughter should have to cry and said that now he believes the claims about police brutality even though previously he did not want to accept them.

Batya herself said that “I want them to stop doing what happened with those policemen.”

Why wasn’t she wearing a mask if it is the law?

What’s not discussed is why she wasn’t wearing a mask.

In her OWN words “ I took it off for a moment to drink as it was a very hot day ,and they came after me “
Look on yesterday’s yeshivah world post for the UNEDITED video

i wasn’t there. There are so many possibilities..
I have seen cases where the excuse was decided after the fact, I doubt she was drinking at the time. The photo with a fact after wards is meaningless.
Too many people I knew perished from this mageyfa when it was mainly a frum issue.

There is something called DAAS – There is nothing forcing a police officer to give anyone a fine for any type of infraction. Even if they see someone go through a red light they can decide to give a warning or to let the guy go. When an 11 year old is walking with her siblings the DAAS says be normal give a warning, tell her to put on the mask. Yes the cops were wrong here even if she wasn’t wearing a mask.

Why do you write she is 11 when her own father says she’s 13?
She did not wear a mask when police told her to (that’s the other video)
Why did her father not come down when she called him?
Why did he not come to help his daugher?
Not important enough to him?

Ok, so let me get this straight. Pessy, no, Batya, who is 11, no, 13, was walking peacefully….
