TEL AVIV (VINnews) — Tel Aviv mayor Ron Huldai’s gesture of solidarity with Lebanon after the huge explosion at Beirut’s port Tuesday was met with scorn and anger by Lebanese citizens. Many of these citizens saw the lighting up of the Lebanese flag on Tel Aviv’s municipality building as a form of mockery at Lebanon’s sorry situation and the responses were generally negative.

One Twitter user exclaimed that “Sure, they’re raising our flag now, but soon enough they’ll destroy our country and violate our country’s sovereignty.” Another user wrote that “As a Lebanese citizen, it disgraces me for Tel Aviv to show Lebanon solidarity. Anyone who circulates those photos I will consider a collaborator.” Another user claimed that “we prefer to die than to receive aid from Israel.”

A more belligerent tone was set by other surfers who support Hezbollah. One of them wrote that “We will be the ones to light up Tel Aviv — with our rockets. Tel Aviv is already lit by the ghost of Imad and Jihad [Mughniyeh]” in reference to two leaders in the terror group — a father and his son — allegedly killed by Israel. Another surfer

Many Lebanese still remember Israel’s operations in the country during the 2006 second Lebanon war and previously while Israel occupied the southern part of the country between 1982 and 2000. “Israel is the largest source of martyrs and wounded in all of Lebanon…it is absolute evil. Working with it is forbidden,” wrote Jamal Chaiito, posting photos of First Lebanon War destruction and the incident at Qana in 1996, when Israeli shells aimed at Hezbollah positions killed 106 Lebanese civilians.

Social media was filled with tens of thousands who responded under the hashtag “We don’t want it” in reference to Israeli offers of medical and humanitarian aid.

Classic! Everyone’s a loser in this tale.
Even you bleeding hearts who were defending this act of stupidity and precociousness on the earlier VIN article.

No problem. Refuse the offer and suffer in pain, die in distress. Israel made the offer to help, you are free to refuse.

That’s what you get by patronizing evil Rashaim. You think by being kind to them scores you points, but the exact opposite is true.

With the militant comments shown there isn’t any hope peaceful relations with those people.
Israel has offered to help an enemy and is being met with antagonism. If they had any sense they would let the brilliance of Israeli medicine help.

I am not sure who they talked to for this article. How about hearing from the Lebanese who were moved by this gesture.

sure, show solidarity with those who hate your guts, but for fellow Jews like those from Gush Katif, the settlers and religious Jews, they have only bare naked hatred!

Glad the Lebanese spit in their faces….

There is nothing new under the sun: Tehilim 120 verse 7: “ I am for peace, but when I speak they are for war.”

Does anyone think that the majority of Lebanese believe in this way. I do.
