Orthodox Jewish pop star Yaakov Shwekey sang an ode to Donald Trump at an Orthodox overnight camp based on his hit song “We Are a Miracle.” In videos of the performance shared online Monday night, Shwekey sings a rewritten version of the song with lyrics supporting Trump’s re-election. No one in the video appears to be wearing a mask.
“May God hear our prayers, four more years, cause we are America,” Shwekey sang.
“Every day you fight a battle. On the news they try to hide all your victories, your accomplishments, the way you lead with pride,” the song continues. “But truth is always stronger, so join us as we sing our song.”
The performance was at Camp Teumim Mesivta in Pennsylvania.
The performance comes less than three months before an election in which the majority of American Jews are expected to vote for Joe Biden, the Democratic candidate for president. But within the Orthodox community, Trump commands significant support.
Last month, Rabbi Shmuel Kamenetsky, a member of the rabbinical council of Agudath Israel, an organization representing haredi Orthodox Jews, endorsed Donald Trump in an interview with Mishpacha magazine. The lyrics to the song were reportedly written by Yisroel Besser, a columnist for Mishpacha.
On Sunday, Trump held a fundraiser in Long Branch, New Jersey, home to a large Syrian Jewish community, at the home of Stanley Chera, a longtime supporter who died in April of the coronavirus.
In the video, Shwekey’s performance ends with chants of “USA, USA!”

Yaakov Shwekey, Is a huge kiddush hashem who gves chizuk to many sick children and cancer pateints. He actually stared the special childrens center in lakewood NJ for kids who are mentally disabled. They take children from large families with disables and provide after school programs sending them home in PJ’s and well feed so parents can get that much needed help that they wouldn’t be able to get and mainatn a house hold.

Has the frum community lost it’s mind?? Singing songs of praise to Trump!! He is a menuval of the lowest kind. It’s enough to vote for him if the alternative is no good but why do we have to bow down to him and stroke is pathologically narcissistic ego?? Support for Trump is short-sided. Tolerating the intolerable for short term gain because one “likes” him or his policies. If he wins his style will be replicated by those on the left as well and there will be a Trump-like candidate in the future who we don’t agree with be it Tucker Carlson or AOC. Boruch Hashem it appears that Trump will lose and take down his Republican enablers with him.

In Trump world, there is no need for a mask or social distancing. The virus is a “hoax” and even if one contracts this “flu” there is a simple cure readily available just take some hydroxychloroquine (or Lysol).
Trump has made America Great Again never mind that America leads the world in COVID cases and deaths. Never mind that Stanley Chera and over 150,000 Americans have died. The main thing is that Trump hugs a flag and uses the military for photo ops. We “love” America.

This is in Pennsylvania. They aren’t required by law to wear a mask. There was a camp in PA that had 8 kids with Covid but it seems to have been contained.

First, let us clarify that this is not a VIN story, it is from JTA.
Now, my comments.
1) I think that too much is being made of it at this point. The singer came to entertain some kids, teenagers, who may not even be able to vote in November. So he put an old hit of his to some new words. If he would sing that version to many adults for months, then it would be a greater story. But so far, I am not seeing that.

Wrong! It was “we love America”. And it was repeated several times. Okay, maybe it was not so clear, but listen carefully and/or a few times and you will hear it. No need to make up something new, as the President might say, fake news.
Maybe call me naive, but I never felt we needed a president who is our “friend”, rather we need president and a government that upholds the law and ideals of this country and does not play favorites. Take a President like Trump without the friend aspect and think about what you have. That is what concerns me. I don’t think looking forward to Moshiach excuses thinking about what needs to be done for the future. If you truly believe that you only have to live for the moment because Moshiach will save the future, then be honest, sell all your assets and move to Eretz Yisroel already. Why do you need an investment that produces income next week/month/year when your hope for Moshiach has it all covered. Spare me the naive excuses that we do tachlis here but anything else we can ignore. Inconsistency is just following your taiveh.
